Overview:
The K-40ii Ball Head (the new updated replacement for the super-popular K-40X) is precise, meticulously machined, and perfect for professional photographers and enthusiasts alike for its world-class quality based on years of accumulated experience of SIRUI and its innovative design.
Precision and Strength:
The K-X series ball head is manufactured from the best aerospace alloy, machined by high-end CNC, and coated with anodic oxidation on its exterior to achieve a superior quality finish. The interior locking system has a sphere tolerance of 0.01 mm and is equipped with orientation-memory locking dial; this quick-locking mechanism allows for easy access and use. The 360-degree panel is integrated in the base which allows photographers to do panoramic or continuous panning shots. The quick-release plate platform, adopting general sizes of international standards, is of the Arca-Swiss type, thus suitable for a variety of quick-release plates. Two bubble levels are included on the platform that serve as a measure of vertical and horizontal balance. A red safety button is also incorporated to prevent the quick-release plate from sliding off the platform easily; the plate can be released by pressing on the button. The three knobs of adjustment (from the base and up, respectively) are the panoramic control knob (smallest), friction control and ball-locking knob (the biggest), and the plate-locking knob at the top.
Details:
The K-40ii Ball Head can support up to 35 kg and is suitable for 35 mm and medium-format photographic cameras, DSLRs, and digital or conventional type video camcorders, including with large lenses as well as large format cameras.

Incredible Quality - Price/Value Ratio
By Anthony M, courtesy of B&H
First, the name is misleading - it's not a 40mm ball as you'd think at this price! It's 54mm, and the thing is an absolute beast! This is truly full size - so do be aware. 3 spirit levels make sure that you're not going to be confused regarding positioning. The styling of the device takes a little getting used to though - although those odd scallops actually do help in as much as making it easy to grip with gloves on!
It absolutely laughs at a 6D, grip, 70-200 f2.8. It's overkill. The movement and friction of the head is super smooth and linear. The panning has blown me away - I won't hesitate to get a sidekick it performs so well. Even the little friction adjustment screw in the locking knob is easy to operate. It's truly a joy to handle and use.
I've been so impressed with this company I bought their M3204X tripod. This replaces years of Manfrotto gear. My only other sources of reference in comparison would be Gitzo and RRS to start with, and the Sirui product stands tall with the rest of them. I see why they're winning awards like crazy.
Highly recommended"

Best Ballhead for the Money!
By I Man, courtesy of B&H
I read several reviews of this Sirui ballhead and decided to try it. I'm very glad I did. It is very well built and feels very solid. It operates very smoothly and most importantly for me no more, drifting or sagging when I lock the ballhead down on a target! I have tried it with a lens as heavy as a Sigma 150-600 C with no problem at all!
It is every bit as nice as ballheads costing several times the cost of this one! I researched it pretty extensively and for the money, I doubt you can get a better product.
Just be aware it is tall and relatively large, but if your first priority is stability skip the smaller, lighter ballheads like the RRS BH-40."
