Product Description

Buy from Australia's only authorised online dealer!

Because only Selling Out Soon is authorised to sell this official Australian Sirui stock, you're getting the real Sirui product here. Be absolutely sure of the true Sirui experience and that you're getting what you pay for. Because ours are not those very good-looking (but illegal and generally useless) fakes. You'll also have the peace of mind of Sirui's full 6 year Australian warranty, only from Selling Out Soon, so in the odd event of any technical or fault issues, you'll receive first class help immediately - here in Sydney, not overseas!

Overview:

The L-20S 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head from Sirui is designed for use on a monopod, although it can be used on a tripod or any other support with a 3/8"-16 threaded stud. The head can hold up to 55.1 lb, allowing it to be used with heavier telephoto lenses. Separate locks control the +/-90° front-to-back tilt and the 360° panning.

To quickly attach your camera to the head, an Arca-type compatible quick release plate is included with a safety lock on the clamp to prevent it from accidentally falling out. Bull's eye and tubular bubble levels help ensure straight horizons, while numbered scales aid with repeatable pans and tilts. A rather lovely Sirui case is included to protect the head when it is not in use.

Glad I opted for the L20s

"I'm very happy with the performance of this head. I'm glad I spent a little more to get the L-20s vs the L-10. The ability to change the orientation of the top plate means I can use this head for my macro rig in addition to my birding lens. My macro lens doesn't feature a lens collar, so I'm mounting to a plate on the camera body that runs perpendicular to the orientation of the L-10 head. This means you'd only be able to tilt from left to right instead of up and down. If you are planning to use your monopod only with large telephoto lenses, than the L-10 is for you. But if you plan to use both lens collar mounts and body mounts, than this head is what you need, and is more than worth the extra investment and slight weight increase. Quality build, smooth action, highly recommended.."

FAQ about this product

Question 1:

Can the plate on top be rotated 90 degrees?

"Yes it can. Remove the QR plate loosen the silver Allen screw , rotate plate and lock. This way you can use a right angle QR plate."

Question 2:

Is the tilt movement smooth and fluid like? Can the minimum tension or drag of the tilt movement be adjusted?

"Yes, the tension of the tilt movement is fully adjustable and it is smooth as silk."

Answered by a Verified Buyer

"The fluid movement is controlled by the tension you apply by turning the adjustment knob. It works very well even with heavy lenses. I use this with my 200-500 mm and it will hold it firm at any desired angle."

great tripod/monopod head

"Great little tripod/monopod head, great features for the price. It can be used on either a tripod or monopod. I purchased this head to be used with a MeFoto Globe Trotter travel tripod. It works great with this tripod it doesn't add any extra weight, but is ore stable then the supplied ball head."

Smooth as Silk

"I bought this to use on both a tripod and a monopod. On a tripod the 2-degrees of freedom (altitude and azimuth) is the same type of motion that a Wimberley enables at a fraction of the weight. What really surprised me was the very smooth motion. It feels like a fluid head and swinging a long lens (e.g., 100-400 on Fuji X Pro2) was a pleasure. Of course, on a monopod, the azimuthal (panning) motion is not needed, but the fluidity of the altitude control and the light weight of the head make it a pleasure to carry and use."

great pan/tilt head

"I bought this to use on my Gitzo 5561T monopod - great combination. The tilt head is very smooth and the locks are incredibly strong."

Well built and smooth...

"I was looking at a 2 way head that could be used on both a monopod and tripod and accommodate heavy lenses at times without issues. I was initially looking at the Markins BV head since I already have a Markins Q20 ball which is top notch. The price of a Q20i head and the BV combo is ridiculous so in comes the Sirui. For several hundred dollars less I wasn't expecting much from the Sirui but the positive reviews intrigued me and I finally broke down and ordered it. When I received the Sirui I was impressed by the craftsmanship. It's a solid chunk of a head with no flimsy parts including the rotating knobs. I put a moderately heavy Nikon telephoto lens on it and I was floored by the fluidity of the pan head motion. Not too light and not too heavy. The same could be said of the tilt motion. The plate is a nice addition and a lot of other manufacturers sell it as an extra. The instructions are in good English and easy to understand. No mention of basic head maintenance however. One thing I would have liked to have is a way of limiting/locking the angle of the tilt head. If a heavy lens goes up or down without holding it properly, the bulk and weight of a lens goes dangerously too far in front or back. Perhaps I will devise a way of limiting the angle to 30 and 60 degrees but I'm hoping the manufacturer will take care of that in the next incarnation. I haven't used it in the field yet but i have a feeling I will like it. I hope it will hold up well to extensive use."
